We built the ReFraction™ series with this in mind. ReFraction™’s refined aesthetics disguise the technical outdoor materials, components, and construction techniques that make this bag tick. ReFraction™ Series bags are designed to be simple and straightforward to pack up for travel. Each bag features a convenient organizational pocket that you invert the bag into. Zip closed and take it with.    

Does the ReFraction™ Backpack have comfortable shoulder straps?
We have designed the ReFraction™ Backpack with comfortable carry in mind. The backpack straps feature lightweight padding throughout, and have hidden internal structure that prevents the shoulder straps from pinching inward or digging in. This makes the ReFraction™ Backpack comfortable enough for all day wear, and even day hikes.    

What makes Refraction™ Series Bags different from other packable bags available?

What sustainable materials are used in the ReFraction™ Series?
Our team has gone great lengths to build the ReFraction™ Series with sustainability and lifecycle in mind from the very beginning. These bags are built from recycled nylon that meet Bluesign® criteria. Bluesign® is a highly reputable third party certification criteria that requires that fabrics do not contain harmful substances, are environmentally friendly, and are produced in a safe and fair environment. Our materials are also free from PFC, PFA, and PFAS.

Is the ReFraction™ Series waterproof?
The ReFraction™ Series is built from waterproof materials and has YKK® sealing zippers. The ReFraction™ Series is designed to withstand light bouts of precipitation. Outdoor coatings add further protection by letting water slick off the fabric. If you’re looking for full weatherproofing, we recommend the Advanced Series bags.

Are the ReFraction™ Series backpack and duffle bag personal-item size compliant?
Yes, all of the ReFraction™ Series bags are personal-item size compliant. Also—the sling does not count against your baggage count and is considered to be an item of clothing by most airlines. This makes it an excellent place to keep your in-flight accessories or essentials when you travel—it’s free space.

How long is the warranty?
The ReFraction™ Series has a 3 year, Total-Protection-Warranty. Built from high quality outdoor fabrics, the ReFraction™ Series is made to last.  Equipment in and out of warranty is eligible for free repairs. (Excludes European Union)

THE Clinch Bag

I travel full time and this bag is an absolute must-have for traveler, adventurous or not. Where has it been? It’s been in Portugal on 4-8 mile hikes at the coast and in the mountains, it’s been on trains through Italy and Slovenia and in the Alps along the way as my day-pack. It’s been in the jungles of Thailand and the streets of Bangkok. I’ve emptied sand from its ouches after relaxing on the beaches of Koh Tao and put through wash cycles to get the dirt of the Blue Ridge Mountains washed clean. In short, it’s a workhorse of a simplistic pack and as a person that stands at 6’4” and 240lbs, it’s never felt tight (save the sternum strap) or too small.

It’s also led me to the decision to grab one of the true day-packs come Black Friday this year. Although, this will still come on the road with me.

Please keep making killer products that give us better options as we coast around the globe.

Great day pack

I don’t normally use back packs but needed to have a light weight day pack to take on a Safari trip. As I planned to be on bush planes, weight was a big consideration and as I am petite at just 5 feet, length of the pack was important as well.
I bought the 16L as I loved the minimal look and it met all my other considerations. This pack was fabulous! It held everything I needed and was easy to access. The side bottle pockets hold a large tall water bottle without it falling out. I easily fit my binoculars, camera, sunscreen, toiletries, valuables and a change of clothing. It comfortably held my zip up hoodie jacket from Unbound Merino, another travel must. I also purchased the detachable pouch and included it on one arm strap. Perfect for keeping my cell phone handy. I also liked the versatility of being able to attach this pouch to the strap of my crossbody bag. Well done Matador!
