What sustainable materials are used in the ReFraction™ Series?
Our team has gone great lengths to build the ReFraction™ Series with sustainability and lifecycle in mind from the very beginning. These bags are built from recycled nylon that meet Bluesign® criteria. Bluesign® is a highly reputable third party certification criteria that requires that fabrics do not contain harmful substances, are environmentally friendly, and are produced in a safe and fair environment. Our materials are also free from PFC, PFA, and PFAS.

Is the ReFraction™ Series waterproof?
The ReFraction™ Series is built from waterproof materials and has YKK® sealing zippers. The ReFraction™ Series is designed to withstand light bouts of precipitation. Outdoor coatings add further protection by letting water slick off the fabric. If you’re looking for full weatherproofing, we recommend the Advanced Series bags.

Are the ReFraction™ Series backpack and duffle bag personal-item size compliant?
Yes, all of the ReFraction™ Series bags are personal-item size compliant. Also—the sling does not count against your baggage count and is considered to be an item of clothing by most airlines. This makes it an excellent place to keep your in-flight accessories or essentials when you travel—it’s free space.

How long is the warranty?
The ReFraction™ Series has a 3 year, Total-Protection-Warranty. Built from high quality outdoor fabrics, the ReFraction™ Series is made to last.  Equipment in and out of warranty is eligible for free repairs. (Excludes European Union)

It fit long wallet+phone

I bought 3 light weight backpacks from Matador before, and saw this sling would work well for a Europe trip in addition to the refraction backpack. I'm glad it fit my daily use brand name long wallet so I can hide inside my jacket and no need to buy a new short wallet. It could hide under t-shirt around waist if only phone, credit card, and cash. The zipper stopper could stop thieves as well and the zipper handle can use a TSA or Matador lock,

Great upgrade!

After 8 years I finally upgraded from the old hip pack and I'm glad I did! Much more room in this one without much of an increase in overall size. It doesn't stuff down as small as the old one (not a massive difference), but that's more than okay as it doesn't really need to be packed into its self storage - Instead it attaches well to packs as external storage. Great quality, seems rugged, easy to wash/clean, super sleek. Great as a hip pack or sling worn on the front or back. Amazing customer service! Make sure to take care of the zippers if you go somewhere crazy humid like Hawaii!

Just what I was looking for

I bought this sling to take with me on a week long trip to Mexico. It’s so thin and light that there’s really no need to pack it into itself, it can lay flat in a backpack or suitcase. It’s the perfect daily companion to avoid bulky pockets. The stretchy front pocket comfortably held my iPhone 16 pro in a standard hard case (probably nothing bigger though), and the main pocket held a cash envelope, a wallet, chapstick, and hand sanitizer. I occasionally also added in AirPods and my sunglasses in their own soft bag on top of what I already listed out. Very versatile and has a clean and minimalist look.
